Smith and Adams win points championships
By Scott Wolfe

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-Usually, something out of the ordinary happens when a full moon shines over K-C Raceway. This time it was just something extraordinary as one of the original outlaws Danny Smith, now of Chillicothe, Ohio pulled off the Tri-fecta by winning the 25-lap Season Championship Saturday night at Jim Nier's K-C Raceway. The feature win was an exclamation point on the veteran hot shoe's dream season as this weekend he claimed the Individual track championships at Skyline Speedway and K-C Raceway and also the combined K-C/Skyline Points Championship. Additionally, he is the nation's winningest sprint car driver to date in 2008 with 17 wins. "The car was fast tonight," proclaimed Smith. "We've worked hard to get here. I'd like to thank my crew, my sponsors and my fans. It's been fun running in this area this year and the fans have been just great. Without the fans we couldn't do this. We are having fun and enjoying life. It's been a great year." The Doug Williams Trucking entry adorned in retro-Gambler colors was the class of the field from the drop of the green. Another extraordinary feat was the green-to-checkered run of all twenty cars completing the feature without incident in just over six minutes. Smith pulled both Todd Kane and Blake Feese with a crossover move on the start and was off to the races, literally. Smith's effort was both flawless and commanding. Within two laps he launched his Maxim into traffic a full straight-away ahead of Illinois driver Blake Feese. Feese cut the lead by a third, but never gained an inch the rest of the way. Feese was astoundingly fast, but so was Smith. With perhaps a close call or two in traffic, the drama never unfolded. Chillicothe's adopted hero had come home and come home a winner amid a gaggle of enthusiastic cheers. Twenty hard chargers deserved honors for running a flawless race. No spins, no mishaps; just pure flat-foot racing. Jimmy Nier was once again high-flying after a nasty tumble last time out on his personal high-banks. Nier, however, had his hands full of youngster Cole Duncan as the duo battle vigorously for the third spot.
